The Awesome Racing Flyball Fanatics (A.R.F.F.) club is holding its second BARKaritavillE Flyball tournament this coming July, and we are looking for sponsors to help make our 2011 tournament as fun and successful as last year's.

What is Flyball?

Flyball is a team sport for dogs that was invented in California in the late 1970's. Legend has it that Herbert Wagner first showed it on the Johnny Carson Show to millions of Americans. Soon afterward, dog trainers and dog clubs were making and using Flyball boxes. In the early 1980's the sport became so popular that the North American Flyball Association (www.flyball.org) was formed, and it is now the worldwide authority for Flyball.

Flyball is a relay race with 4 dogs on a team. The course consists of a starting line, 4 hurdles spaced 10 feet apart and a box. The first hurdle is 6 feet from the start line and the box is 15 feet from the last hurdle for a 51 foot overall length. The dogs jump the hurdles and steps on a spring-loaded box that shoots out a tennis ball. The dog catches the tennis ball and then runs back over the 4 hurdles. When the dog crosses the starting line the next dog goes. The first team to have all 4 dogs run without errors wins the heat.

Why sponsor a Flyball tournament?

Flyball tournaments in New England are always held indoors, and are usually two days long. Competitors will "camp out" in the designated crating area where they spend a lot of down time waiting between races. Most handlers will spend this down time checking out the vendor booths and the raffle table. As a tournament sponsor or vendor, you will receive brand and product exposure to a targeted, captive audience.

There are several ways you can help make BARKaritavillE a success, while also getting exposure for your brand and products:

• Offer your products or services on-site at our tournament.
• Donate an item to our raffle.
• Donate product samples for our welcome bags (provided to each team).

Flyball people and spectators love anything dog related. That includes, dog food and treats, leashes, collars, tee shirts, art and photography, and all kinds of dog toys, gadgets and equipment. Non-dog products are welcome, too! Competitors especially enjoy unique items they've never seen before.

This year, our BARKaritavillE event will be held at the spacious Mass Premiere Courts facility in Foxboro, MA. Approximately 40 teams are expected to attend, with participants traveling from every New England state, and in some cases even further. We're expecting approximately 200 competitors and their dogs, and the event is open to the public free of charge.

• A 12x12 floor space at the tournament for 1 or 2 days.

• Your company's marketing collateral, coupons or product samples in our welcome bags (provided to each team)
• Your company's banner/signage placed near the racing lanes
